As a newbie, I apologise if this is a duplicate post, as I can't find the original on the site.

In the Write window, a friend has 4 tabs next to 4 address fields all giving the TO, CC, BCC options. When they enter an address into the top field, labelled To, their From address is copied into the second address field down, also defaulting to To. Consequently, they're receiving back a copy of the outgoing mail.

Only one To address field is required so how can we remove the extras please? I don't know the version number but the install is about 6 months old.

Thanks, Caison.

Chosen solution

on the tools menu (alt+T) > open account settings select copies and folders. and make sure CC and BCC these addresses is not set.

Also restart with addons disabled from the help menu and see if that stops the automatic insert, as I assure you it does not do that for me.

While the number of to boxes can be forced to one, it is not a good idea as that whole header turns into a squeeze if you click reply all to a mail with more than one recipient.

Matt, I'll try your suggestions when I'm next visiting the laptop's location, probably in the next week. Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. Caison.

EDIT All sorted, thank you Matt.
