Firefox is no longer able to establish new network connections after 3 or more tabs have been opened consecutively with online pages, and at least 2 pages didn`t get the chance to fully load. As result none of the pages that didn`t fully load would ever finish loading, and no other page that requires network connection would ever load. On top of losing capability to open network connection, Firefox no longer releses the used resources at the time the issue occurs.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.

You can try to decrease the value of the pref network.http.max-connections from 255 to a more modest setting like 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

  • Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
  • Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
  • Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
  • Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)
