Can I send emails to address books?

I have imported contacts from an old pc onto mozilla on my new pc but instead of being lists they are address books - I don't seem to be able to send an email to a full address book. Is it possible? Or failing that how do I change the contacts in an address book into a simple list that I can send to?

turn on the contact pane in the write window. F9 Click the first entry in the address book. Press CTrl+A. Click the relevant Add to button
