How do I restart Firefox ver 20 on windows XP?
I tried right clicking on the Firefox icon but there is only an "open" option.
There is nothing in the "File" button

Firefox has never had a "restart" menu item (except for Restart with Addons Disabled... in the Help menu), but there are a number of extensions which add a "restart" menu item.
You can "restart" by simply closing Firefox, waiting a minute or two, and then re-opening Firefox.
Well that's easy enough! I thought Restart automatically always re-opened all of your Windows and Tabs.
I changed my Tools/Option/when Firefox starts: from "show a blank page" to "Show my windows and tabs from my last time". because Firefox did not always display the "restore previous session" after I had shutdown or restarted my PC. Hope this helps.
I wish the instruction would have us not restart but have us close and reopen Firefox. Less confusing, UNLESS Mozilla would give us a RESTART option.
Thanks, Leo
Yes, the "restart" feature does open previous tabs and windows, but Mozilla doesn't provide a "restart" button as a standard part of Firefox. There is a feature for Restore Previous Session in the History menu and on the default Firefox homepage (about:home).
As I said before, there are a number of add-ons that have a "restart" button. Look thru this AMO search for "restart" button extensions.

You can use the Developer Toolbar to restart Firefox.
- Web Developer > Developer Toolbar
Pressing the 'r' should bring up an help menu where you can click the restart entry.
I'd seen the Add On's but it seemed they were not necessary after I read a few responses.
I got enough courage and just now tried the Developer Toolbar and type "restart true" and everything came back just the way I had it.
Thanks for the info - Leo
