After many years of satisfaction using T'bird, I have been afflicted by an auto error condition lately that prevents me from forwarding any emails. They are returned promptly with explanations that '.eml' files are used by scammers. In fact, T'bird invents .eml files, especially for any attachments. Result: I cannot forward any emails and cannot find the setup to correct the situation.

Are you sure the add extension to file name option is still unchecked in Tools > Options > Composition > General, in case it was before? The option next to it decides whether forwarded messages are sent inline or as attachment, so you may need to check both. Also see here - do note that the issue may be caused by the email server, not Thunderbird in particular. I think that’s what happens here.

Thanks. Add extension to file choice worked. Untick this to avoid my problem!
