Can Mozilla PLEASE arrange for Firebug's revival or take over its development???

more options

I was very distraught to read that Joe Hewitt has ceased maintenance on Firebug. It is by far the most effective and efficient debugging tool I have ever used in web development (going on 20 years now). While most of the tools still work, the script debugger no longer does anything now, displaying a "No JavaScript on this page" when there most certainly is! I have tried to use the native debugging tools in Firefox. But I routinely find myself unable to do the deep-level line-by-line analysis that I need to do. Please, if there is any way Mozilla can reach out to Mr. Hewitt and work out an arrangement mutually beneficial to both parties and us, that would serve our community well. Or, if Mr. Hewitt simply does not want to work on it any more but would be agreeable to some kind of a buyout for the Firebug code, that would be in both parties interests as well as ours, too. Thank you for giving my plea your consideration.

Sincerely, - DK29

This support forum isn't the right place for this suggestion. You could try the Add-ons forum:

https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/c/add-ons

But I suspect the Firebug community is in the best position to figure out how to fix the extension for the time remaining during which XUL extensions will work in Firefox.
