When I highlight text and move my cursor down to the bottom edge of the screen to scroll, it is super slow when going down. However if I do the same and scroll upwards by moving my mouse cursor to the top edge to scroll, it scrolls at a reasonable fast rate. The issue does not fix when I start in safe mode, or in private windows. The issue is exclusive to highlighting text and holding down to scroll. My scroll speed by clicking the scroll bar is normal, and so is using two fingers on my laptop (Asus Zenbook 14) to scroll down.

I don't encounter slow click and drag scrolling on google chrome.

to recreate the issue, you must have windows (11) automatically hide the taskbar and move your mouse cursor down to the bottom edge of the screen while highlighting text. This issue does not occur when the taskbar is not hiding.

One workaround is to open the find bar (Ctrl+F) so the cursor can move beyond the bottom of the page.

while this is a workaround that works for the time being, it is quite janky to have to CTRL+F everytime I have a large selection of text and want to scroll down to highlight it all while having the taskbar on Windows 11 auto-hide. Is there anyway for this support ticket to reach the development team as a bug that needs to be fixed? Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge do not have this issue.

Another workaround is to make the page content smaller by going to about:config and changing privacy.resistFingerprinting.letterboxing to true.

The issue with this workaround is that it 1) consistently makes all my page content smaller across all websites and 2) the amount it reduces the page content size by is not enough to make click and drag scrolling scroll at its normal speed, which the ctrl + f fix would do. For the time being I'm just using CTRL + F whenever I want to click and drag scroll because I want to keep the taskbar hidden to prevent OLED burn in on my display.

It would be nice if this support ticket could somehow reach someone on the development team to fix this issue without workarounds like this.

You shouldn't be using maximized windows if you are serious about avoiding OLED burn-in, you need to keep them unmaximized and dynamic.
