Google search engine

Just curious as to why you have Google as your default search engine. Google, from my understanding, is not the most friendly entity for users because they are just like many social media sites that invade users privacy for nefarious purposes. I have refrained from using Google and have went with Bing. Don't particularly care for any of the main stream search engines. Is there any specific reason why Google is used and not some other search engine that isn't interested in violating your privacy?

Development of Firefox is financed by search engines paying to be included as built-in options and to be the default provider. For most of Firefox's history, Google has been the high bidder in most of the world. (For a while, it was Yahoo, which was not popular with users, judging by posts here.) Mozilla has been searching for and experimenting with alternative revenue streams but it's hard slogging.
