How can a browser be so bad, it mixes up the URLs in my bookmarks?
My Firefox bookmarks that I have been using forever have mixed up all the URLs. My Google Calendar bookmark now points to Youtube. My Paypal bookmark now takes mt to Fantasy NHL. Every single god damned bookmark now points to the wrong website. I cant even fathom the amount of time it would take to go through and fix this! Why is your browser so bugged?

Places Maintenance should finish almost immediately. If it takes a long time and you do not have a very large amount of bookmarks and history then there is likely a problem with the places.sqlite database and best would to to delete all places files like I wrote above to make Firefox rebuild the bookmarks from a JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
You may have to restore an older compressed .jsonlz4 backup in case the most recent backup is corrupted.
- Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them
Note that the name of a JSON bookmarks backup file includes a total item count (folders and separators included) and an hash value to prevent saving the same backup more than once.
- bookmarks-YYYY-MM-DD_<item count>_<hash>.jsonlz4.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox

Are you using Sync to sync the bookmarks?
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync while performing maintenance/repair efforts to files in the Firefox profile folder.
No I am not. I don't have a separate Firefox account at work to sign into. If I was syncing them, they would be screwed on the backup also.
Places Maintenance only said 'Checking Integrity' and did nothing more.
What Extensions do you have installed as does any of them have anything to do with Bookmarks?
Adblock Plus, EPUBReader, Flashgot, GreaseMonkey, SavefromNet, Stylish.
I dont believe any of them would affect bookmarks
You can still try to rename places.sqlite to places.sqlite.old and remove places.sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal when present with Firefox closed to see if that helps. This will make Firefox rebuild the bookmarks from the most recent compressed .jsonlz4 backup in the bookmarkbackups folder, so if this backup is already corrupted then you would have to restore an older backup.

What is places.sqlite and where do i find it?
This is absolutely screwed. I am trying to manually correct all the URLs for my bookmarks, but nothing will save. Everything keeps reverting. Some have now completely disappeared, although when I go to the site to resave the bookmark, it claims it is still there. There is also a bookmark that i cant drag or delete.
Ok I have manually corrected all my bookmarks, created an account for work to back up. Hopefully it doesnt revert. Because this is a ridiculous bug for a browser to have.

Restarted Firefox, and all the corrections I made are lost....
I uninstalled Firefox, renamed the AppData/local/Mozilla folder. Installed Firefox x64. When I launched it, i expected a fresh install, but is opened all the same tabs, still had the same bookmarks and faults.
I tried to restore bookmarks from a .json file, but it has the attached error. It happens with all backups. All my bookmarks are gone currently
Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder.
Location used for the main profile in "AppData\Roaming".
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files in "AppData\Local".
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
Unable to process usually means that there is a problem with the places.sqlite database.

If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
- keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created

Thanks, i tried to run the Places Maintenance, but it just sat there 'checking integrity', which I couldnt wait for during work hours. I assume it is going to take a long time? I will trigger it at the end of the work day, and see how it goes overnight. failing that i will try removing the profile.

Thanks, I found the Places files, and removed them. Then launched Firefox, and restored from a backup and it worked, and the URLs are correct. Thanks
