You are trying to move some bookmarks from a Mozilla bookmark folder into another bookmark folder. Correct?

Try the following:

1. Open the Firefox bookmark manager
2. Click on all desired bookmarks while holding the Ctrl button
3. Then Cut the bookmarks (or press Ctrl + X)
4. Navigate to the desired folder
5. Paste the bookmarks (or press Ctrl + V)

This will move all of the selected bookmarks to the folder that they are pasted into.

Sorry. Just the opposite. Trying to move bookmarks from Google folder to Mozilla favorites on Mozilla. I imported Google bookmarks to Mozilla. Which opened a "From Google Chrome" folder in Mozilla favorites.

My above steps should work.

Did you try them?

To quickly get to the bookmarks section of the Library dialog, you can press Ctrl+Shift+b. This should let you easily drag and drop (or cut and paste) bookmarks from the import folder into other folders.

Thanks, that worked fine. I'm just a little dense I guess.

You can choose to keep using this "From Google Chrome" folder or move (copy/cut and paste) them to another bookmarks folder or create a new folder for these imported bookmarks.

Not to be dense (chronically sleep deprived) but I have mine from Safari that I just want listed as a regular bookmark. No folders or favorites. Just a list.

Can some one tell me really dumbed down how to get them from the folder? I didn't understand how to cut and paste and then put them where?

 Also, I don't have a mouse so please explain if I need to use my trackpad.

Hi mewkiss, in Safari, did you export your bookmarks to an HTML file? For best results, save that file to your desktop or another easily accessible location. These articles might help:

• Safari 5.1 (OS X Lion): Import and export bookmarks
• Safari 6 (OS X Mountain Lion): Import and export bookmarks

To import the file into Firefox, try the steps in this article: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file.

If that doesn't work, you may need to edit the file a bit to get it to import. The edit is to remove two lines (you might have one or both of these lines) which sometimes appear in the file that Firefox's importer cannot handle.

The first one appears near the top between

<H1>Bookmarks</H1>

The location of the second one may depend on how many items are on the Bookmarks Bar.

To do this edit, use a text editor instead of a word processor to avoid stray codes being added to the file.

Don't know how to use the context file.

@jscher2000. I have the file on my desktop. For reasons I won't go into, I'm not able to read the info from Mozilla on how to get the file into my Firefox bookmarks.

Can you just explain (dumbed down please).

I also noticed that it did take one folder I had and gave it some oddball name and wouldn't let me rename it.

Do you see FOLDED text in the file if you inspect the HTML file in a plain text editor?

If this FOLDED attribute is present then you need to remove this text (you can leave the rest of it).

You can import the HTML file in the Bookmarks Manager (Library; Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks)

Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import and Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML

Import & Backup is the third button on the toolbar in the Library (Organize, Views, Import and Backup)

I don't know how to look at it in Text Editor. I wasn't kidding when I said dumb it down.

Do you have the TextEdit application?

You can open the file in this application or drag the file in an empty TextEdit window.

This is what I got when I slid it into this window.

That looks like a rich text window that can take HTML code and not a plain text window that only takes text.

Did you look for a menu item in TextEdit to open a file?

Ok I did that. This is what I got. The blank text edit window and then this which also says locked.

What next?

You still need to find a way to see the actual page source code instead of the rendered file with clickable links.

Try to open the file in Firefox instead and open the page source.

• File > New Tab > Open File
• Tools > Web Developer > Page Source (Command+U)
• right-click on a web page to open the context menu and select View Page Source

I appreciate your help but this is taking way more energy than i have. I'll just slowly move them over when I feel like it. I haven't moved completely back to Firefox so so it won't be that hard.

Things should not be this complicated (for me anyway).
