Since recently updating to F. 5.0 all pictures sent to me WITHIN emails don't open. (attachments are ok.)

My question is as above. When I send a picture within an email (not an attachment) it is received without issue. When someone either responds to that email, with my original picture, or with pictures of their own, or pictures within an article they have forwarded, they no longer arrive open. There is just the white empty box with the little red 'x' at the top left. I've looked around to tried to reset to the original state BEFORE updating Firefox, but can't find a way to do it. Any suggestions? Thanks. Oh, and Windows 2000 Pro has been fine.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.

See:

  • Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in Tools > Page Info > Permissions
  • Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
  • Check the exceptions in Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions
  • Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the down key). If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

cor-el: thank you for all your suggestions! I'll go through them and see if I can ferret out a solution. So far, everything that should be ticked off - or not - seems to be okay, but the problem remains. I'll continue to work through the info. I'll keep you posted. Again, many thanks for all the options. SFH :-)
