Does Firefox auto-update Adobe Reader, new versions?

It appears that in the past Firefox has auto-updated the Adobe Acrobat (last update shown as Aug. 5, 2014). It shows up as Adobe PDF Plug-in for Firefox, however it is not showing the newest version just released.

All of my plug-ins are showing up as "up to date", including the Adobe Flash which was recently updated on Sept. 9th.

Is it too soon for the plug-in to be updated? Any assistance with this issue would be most sincerely appreciated.

If you are talking about the Mozilla plugin checker, it has one bad flaw. it has to be told what the current version is. You can have a more recent version, but until the web page is told, it will tell you to update.

Adobe is a separate company. Most times their software will tell you when updates are available.

Fred, in the past Firefox has updated these plugins.

The latest update to the Adobe Reader Xl is Version 11.0.09 which was just released. One of my security programs provides the latest information when a program is out of date, and the version you referenced (11.0.8.4) is out of date.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Plugins are not actually installed in Firefox but on system as to why you can only activate/deactivate Plugins which tells Firefox to make use of them or not.

Thank you for the explanation, James. I understand that Firefox does not auto-update Adobe from your information.

My only other question is "Why does the outdated plug-in reflect that it is up to date?". I do not understand that at all. In the past if a plugin was not up to date, it was shown when I checked to determine if the plugins were up to date.

Thank you again for your help, James.

Thank you for the explanation, Fred.

Late yesterday, I was prompted by Adobe to update to the new version, so now Firefox is reflecting this. I'm not quite certain I understand this process, however it is a relief knowing that I do have the current version.

Thank you for the information you provided.
