After changing my hard drive I've re-downloaded Thunderbird but can't recover my account. I've forgotten my password and have asked for a password reset link twice - nothing received. The tech help is too complex for me. How do I reset my password and log back into my account? Simply! Thank you.

I guess that means you did attempt to set up the account in Thunderbird again?

The easiest way to recover the account would be to restore a current backup of your Thunderbird profile you created prior to changing your disc. Alternatively you could copy it off the old disk, assuming you still have access to it.

Sounds like a catch-22. You've requested a password reset link which would be sent to your account, but you don't have a working account in the first place. Most email providers offer to set up a recovery email address. Did you do that?

Beyond that, you'll have to work with your email provider to reset the password.
