I just installed FireFox to replace iE 8 on a Windows XP machine. I then imported my favorites from IE 8. After the import there were a whole bunch of little used (not used very often) bookmark on the tool bar. Why are they there and how come they are there? If I delete them on the toolbar do I lose it permanently or is it still a bookmark under the Bookmarks drop down box?

How can I pin the bookmarks to the left side of the screen just like IE 8?

Regards,

John Eccles

Rearrange the bookmarks you want in the Bookmarks Toolbar by moving those bookmarks to the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder.

I know I can hide the toolbar. That's not the point of the above question. I want to know how it got populated as a result of the import and why it chose those particular items. I want to get rid of all of the toolbar entries as a result of the import and just put up what I like.

Okay, I played around with Firefox and saw that I could delete the bookmark entries and it did not delete the mainbookmarks.

I also saw thatone can place the bookmarks on the sidebar.

Still don't knw why the bookmark toolbar got populated with items that I rarely use but I have deleted them all in the library.
