Why can't I scroll (cursor up/down, page up/down home/end) or copy (ctrl-c) with the keyboard anymore?

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and I use the keyboard a lot to scroll and copy from the browser. Neither of these things are working. Hitting the keys that usually control scroll does nothing and hitting ctrl-c whilst text is selected has no effect. I can enter text into form fields (obviously :) ) but I can't tab between them.

I have googled this and keep coming up with it being an issue with caret browsing being enabled. Toggling caret browsing does not help me.

Try starting Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to see if it is one of your addons. I was having similar issues and it turned out to be the Delicious addon.

Yeah, you're right, thanks. In safe mode there is no issue. Disabling the Delicious extension got rid of it when running normally. I haven't used the delicious plug in for a while so I might just leave it disabled, unless you know how to fix the issue and still use Delicious?

confirmed, this is delicious addon. Something broke last update for them. (tested on 10.04 LTS, FF 3.6.8, and Delicious Bookmarks 2.1.102)

Ok, went to http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/de.../files/ as recommended in Delicious support. DeliciousBookmarks-2.1.105.xpi fixes this problem for me. Try it out.

I am using Firefox 3.5.12 under Widows xp. The keys Page up/Page down and the arrows do not work when I want to scroll. This is NOT the case with MS IE8. Was the latest version of Firefox an improvement on the previous version? Do I have to use extra tricks to re-enable scrolling? Or shall I simply change to IE?

You may have switched on caret browsing: press F7 to toggle

I found this thread when my Home and End keys quit taking me to the top and bottom of Web pages. The F7 solution fixed the problem at once. Thank you!

I had this and a text editing problem. I started in the safe mode and let Firefox reset all the changes I had made to the default. That fixed both issues. One little hitch in that process was that it reset my opening mode back to "Home," and I lost about 100 tabs I had had open for the past year.
