Tools->Optinos->Applications does not include "mailto" as file type
I want to change the mail program that mailto links use. However, the mailto link is not found in the Tools->options->Applications list. How can I add this, or possibly uncover it so it is visible in the list?

It should be one of the defaults. The following will reset the download actions to their defaults:
- Open the profile folder as shown in the profiles article
- Close Firefox
- Rename mimeTypes.rdf to mimeTypes.rdf.old
- Restart Firefox, the applications list should now include mailto, but you may have to reset other download actions
