Private Browser option doesn't appear to work in my Linux Mint 17 Firefox 34.0 Linux Mint mint 1.0 version
I'm runnig FF 34.0 Lint Mint v 1.0 in Linux Mint 17.0 and since installing Mint 17, Firefox hasn't show when it's operating in a private window. I've tried 3 different ways of opening private windows and no label or purple mask appears. Is this a known problem?

Firefox won't show the purple mask if you run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Never Remember History).
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You can use an extension to get Private Browsing mode support per tab.
- Private Tab: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/private-tab/
- Private Browsing mode tabs get a dashed underline
- You can toggle Private Browsing mode on/off via the right-click context menu of a tab
