All of a Sudden all my Saved login password have vanished, only my book marks remains, what should be done to recover the same.

When did you lose your passwords? Did you lose anything else?

Let's try this first; Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Look for these files. Are they there?

key3.db [v58+] key4.db and logins.json These are the Password files.

If the key4 and key3 are both present, delete the key4 file. Restart Firefox. Did the passwords return?

Note: You may be missing any recent additions.


In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.
