I am sorry to hear that Firefox is not saving your passwords. I have found a help article that might help you. See Usernames and passwords are not saved. Hope that helps!

Can you post a link to a web page with a log in form where Firefox doesn't ask to save the password?

Thanks for any help. Oddly, I've used Amazon for 16 years. On new computer, I am no longer given the option ON AMAZON to "stay signed in on this computer." It usually appears under the password. ! That is a login form that has autocomplete=off.

There are also two user name and password fields present in the form and the second password field also has autocomplete=off, so this looks like quite complicated and there is probably some JavaScript involved that copies data from the first set to the second set.

You can try if it works with the usual procedure to deal with autocomplete=off

• You can toggle the signon.overrideAutocomplete pref to true on the about:config page.
• You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox store form data like names and passwords.

Note that Firefox won't auto-fill saved form data automatically when autocomplete=off is used, so double-click the empty name field to get a drop-down list.

I appreciate your help but I am not a very expert computer user. I have checked that I am permitting passwords to be saved and it does work on some sites. What baffles me is why I've never experienced this issue with Windows 7 and the version of Firefox I am using on it. It works just fine on the Aetna site and all the others I'm having this problem wit Do you think it may be a Windows 8.1 issue? Or something with the new version of Firefox? As I said, I've got Win7 and an older version of Firefox that I use with it. I'm reluctant to update to a newer version of Firefox on my old computer in case that is the problem. Type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key to open the about:config page like you open a website by typing the URL in the location bar.

• If you see a warning message then you can confirm that you want to access the about:config page.

You can use the Search bar at the top of the about:config page to locate preferences more easily.

You can start typing signon.overrideAutocomplete in the search bar until you see this pref and double-click the line with this pref to toggle its value from false to true. This will cause this line to show as bold and the status column will show user set to reflect that you've change this pref
