My Menu bar is gone. It doesn't temporally pop-up either when I open Firefox either. It simply ceases to be.

I have a Mac. I've been looking through all the suggestions and none of them have solved my problems. None of the F# commands, Pressing and holding ALT does not temporally bring up my Menu bar. Every other program on my Macbook has a menu bar when I click on them, but Firefox doesn't. The apple button does not list Firefox as a recent application even when I am using it. What is wrong with my browser? Also, I am not in fullscreen mode. Basically, every solution that has been suggested does not apply to my situation.

Right click a section of the browser not currently occupied by a button and choose "Menu Bar". Does that work?

That's not even an option anywhere I right click

Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in Safe Mode." To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

If you are still running Firefox 14, the Safe Mode dialog also lets you reset your toolbars to default, which I think includes the menu bar. Please be careful in checking boxes in the dialog, since some will remove important data. It's always a good idea to have a backup before using any of the reset features. See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
