How to regain control of my email from AOL
I used Thunderbird for my email while I was with Verizon. Somewhere several years ago, Verizon stopped supporting email and I ended up having to use AOL. I want to go back to Thunderbird, but when I've tried I have always ended up needing a password I don't have or in some other dead-end process. I would like to continue with my present email address ([email protected]), but if that's not possible I would consider changing. Can you help?

Verizon and AOL require an APP password when using email clients on a PC. I believe you must go to the AOL site and select the security page and can set up the APP password there. See this page for more info: https://help.aol.com/articles/Create-and-manage-app-password
For Verizon on AOL, incoming use imap.aol.com, 993, or pop.aol.com, 995, SSL/TLS; OAuth2, email address.
For the outgoing, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1460299
