Firefox crashes since Windows update 9/11/18
Windows update today incl. KB4457128, KB4456655 and KB4457146. My vers. 62 Firefox crashes immediately upon startup, only since these updates. Will not start in 'Safe' mode either. My 'Nightly' version (64.0a1( 2018-09-11)(64 bit) still works perfectly.
Windows 10 (not Insider) vers. 1803 Build 17134.285

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
- On the keyboard, press [Windows] The image "Windows key" does not exist. + [R]. This should bring up a Run window that contains a text field.
- In that text field, type %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
- From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
- Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
- Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
- Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.
Thanks in advance!

hi dave, thanks for reporting this. could you check if creating a new firefox profile for testing purposes also exhibits the same crash at startup? Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles
I deleted the old profile and created a new one. Firefox 62 still does not work, although 'Nightly' works fine.
I also did the system scan, including DISM. Results showed no errors.
Thanks Dave
the issue seems to be caused by downgrading with the same profile touched by the recent nightly. if you switch back and forth between versions it would be best to use separate profiles for each release channel or use portable versions as firefox doesn't make any promises of being downwards compatible (though i guess we wouldn't want to crash either in this case)...
Thanks for the reply Phillip! Not to be argumentative, but I had been using vers 62 alongside Nightly for several months. I had even used the beta version of vers. 63 with Nightly with no problems. I don't mind beta testing, but didn't want to put all my faith in a beta! I stopped using the beta several weeks ago and went back to release versa. 62. It was only immediately after the Sept. Win 10 upgrade that they stopped working and playing well together lol! I can only believe Windows mad a change that Firefox couldn't deal with. I'm just not knowledgeable enough to diagnose it.
I removed vers 62 today (via Windows removal) and reinstalled it. Same issue. I removed it again and installed the vers. 63 beta, again with no improvement.
All that said, I have removed all Firefox except for Nightly from my PC. I'll hope that Nightly continues to work as well as it does!
Thanks Dave
