Need help recovering password in Firefox. I "updated" the password, I need the previos password not the updated one?
I signed on and when I made an account I clicked save log in, then it sometime after i entered the wrong password logging in and a popup said "Save New Password" or whatever even though the new login failed because it was the wrong password-- so I clicked Enter, thus erasing my previously saved real password for this website. Now I can't get into the account because I don't have my password.
Additionally, I entered the wrong EMAIL so I can't even click "forgot password" to get a recovery email, and I can't change my password without entering my current password.
Is there a way to recover this data? Again 1. Made an account with password- saved with firefox 2. Tried logging in, entered wrong pass , pop-Up showed 'update password' fast, I clicked enter 3. Now my password is gone.
Hope someone can help me Thanks

You should be able to see passwords used in the past when each was created, updated, and used by clicking on the 3 little horizontal bars in the top right under X. In the drop down click on "passwords" and in the top left search box enter the site name.
Firefox 80+ has a logins-backup.json file in the profile folder that can be used in case of issues with logins.json or to undo an accidental delete/update of a password. You can check if you can find this logins-backup.json file in the profile folder or in a backup.
Make sure to keep a backup of the current logins.json and logins-backup.json before replacing logins.json with logins-backup.json with Firefox closed.
Sorry, I'm confused. Nothing shows in my logins-backup.json it says encrypted and only shows the same 4 logins i have saved. I need the old log in before I clicked update. There has to be a way? Please explain to help, I'd appreciate it.
If you have made changes to a login like updating username or password or saving a new login then a new logins-backup.json gets created and you lose the previous version, so you can only use this backup file immediately after you accidentally updated or deleted a password.
You cold check whether Window has saved a copy of logins.json/logins-backup.json as part of a System Restore point.
You can look a utility to browse System Restore points.
Note that you shouldn't use System Restore as this can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted and files in the profile folder can get replaced by older copies.
