at my left are columns: 'subject', 'from', 'date' /number of columns is chosen by me/. my wish is to have first from the left : 'from' then 'subject'...dragging doesn't work, 'restore column order' doesn't help.

The add-ons were disabled in safe/troubleshoot mode, so they aren't likely the source of the problem. I have both of them running without issues.

There's no risk in testing with a new profile. The old one is unaffected and can be opened as before. The time to test a new profile and transfer data, if necessary, would be less than the time already spent in searching for a solution.

Does drag and drop of the column buttons work in safe mode (hold Shift when launching TB)?

no, it does not help either using this mode, see my screenshots. i have these two addons, perhaps they have an impact on this problem but earlier i did not have this case having already these addons...perhaps a tb update has something to do with it...

Test with a new profile: Help/More Troubleshooting, about:profiles, create a new profile, add an account and see if the columns can be rearranged. If they can, reply here to find out how to transfer data from the old to the new profile.

Use the switches to the right of each add-on, as shown in your screenshot.
