I do not know if there is a solution; but on my Windows 7 this browser crashes the whole OS when I do anything with Google and its features. GMAIL on it gets the most use; and the signin and logging out are times that are worrisome. However, Google crashes all my browsers; so it was not enough to remove Chrome. When SeaMonkey crashes, it only crashes the program without shutting down the whole OS. Solutions, anybody? I am posting on my Mac Catalina, but have to keep Windows 7 running.

Hey there!

This is based on what cor-el said before in a case similar to yours.

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that start with "bp-":

   bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the report ID of recent crash reports on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page (about:support).

click the "All Crash Reports" button on this page to open the about:crashes page and see all crash reports.

Alternatively you can open about:crashes via the location/address bar.

Hope I helped!

Kind regards,

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

Install both 32-bit and 64-bit "Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019" downloads, (x86: vc_redist.x86.exe and x64: vc_redist.x64.exe) from https://support.microsoft.com/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed free to use malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Forgive me for being negligent. I missed the instructions about crash reports. Should I look for more recent ones? What do I put into the URL to find them? Without regard to the other instructions here I just ran Malwarebytes for the first time after downloading and installing the current version. After leaving it running i came back later only to find that it shut down the system. i do not know if it is set to do that or if the already existing damage to my Windows 7 caused the shut down. Perhaps experiencing this shutting down with every browser open caused me to lose focus. This computer had been down since i ran my existing programs clean - Sophos, McAfee Stinger and Emisoft Emergency Kit Scanner. I also removed programs I do not use. So, the system has been down a few times because I shut it down after these software removals and malware scans.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 Submitted crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

Please, Do not post a screenshot ! !

The latest crash report without -bp is 07889b07-6abc-468b-bd3c-5fe7a63276c8, with -bp it is bp-7e30dbb4-bcbf-420b-8194-94d350210806, which is already submitted.

I did not do the testing in Safe Mode yet. Yesterday I had trouble with Malwarebytes. After starting it twice, it shut down my computer. I cannot figure out if it has settings that did that; or if the damage we are trying to fix did it. The automatic scan it did last night found 34 entries that I sent to quarantine. Malwarebytes is coming off my computer. My SuperAntispyware is coming off as well, so old that it does not update. Thanks so far.

Update Sophos Anti-Virus. If the problem continues, disable it.

Malwarebytes is coming off my computer. My SuperAntispyware is coming off as well . . .

Having many protection programs could end up interfering with each other or the system.

FredMcD, already done. It is an outdated program that I at least disabled from running automatically. Sophos was part of a virus removal service that an office store chain offered that I will not make the mistake of buying again. This program did not even have a firewall component.

Right now, after two Malwarebytes scans, SuperAntispyware is running on my Windows 7. This post is from my Mac. During the two runs, Malwarebytes crashed each time shutting down the system. However, it ran a scheduled scan and allowed me to take off 34 entries and move them to Quarantine. SuperAntispyware earlier today did a similar crash while running the first time. I hope the second time it will run through to give me a list of things without crashing. This one only allow scheduled scans with their paid version. When these things finish, then I will get into Safe Mode to carry out the other instructions. Thank you.

SuperAntispyware ran and crashed the OS. I ran it again, watching it as it found items; and then ran it again in a more targeted file path. It took off 115 items. Yesterday it occurred to me that last year I had this crashing occurring at this time, during a high heat index. Maybe the heat here is a factor with things in Windows 7 not working.

It's even worse bringing the system up in Safe Mode using Firefox in Troubleshooting Mode. When I first opened Firefox to my usual homepage, I could not even see the top menu bar. It would not let me resize it. Visually Troubleshooting Mode was an improvement. In GMAIL I could not see much until I closed out the Bookmarks Sidebar, which was on the left. Going to Google Drive I could not bring up anything. Google Voice brought up everything I had there though in this mode I would not want to use it. In GMAIL response time going to folders and opening messages was slow. After checking off two messages for deletion and opening up a regular message I receive daily on apartment vacancies, it crashed. It is down now awaiting me to powercycle. I was going to run the System File Checker next.

When I brought it back up in Safe Mode, I started System File Checker from the Run Box; and it again crashed. I powered up again and in full Windows ran System File Checker from the Command Prompt running it as Administrator. It ran clean and the system is still up.
