Firefox for windows won't remember my passwords even though box is checked to remember. Box comes up to save but won't come up when logging in. I checked options and it shows passwords are in the saved login box. Yet when signing in somewhere, it won't come up with password. I don't want to reload entire Firefox because I did that once and lost hundreds of all of my top bookmarked tabs along with all bookmarks and favorites.

So you can save new password and see them in the Password Manager,but you can't make Firefox offer to fill a login field?

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security: Logins: "Saved Logins" -> "Show Passwords"

Note that a detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:

  • you can create an "Allow" exception to keep specific Cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when Cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now": Exceptions

If you use this feature on a website to remember you then make sure to keep the Cookies and the Site Preferences.
