Check your options with Outlook and make sure content is not blocked. Note: Content may be blocked in the junk/spam folders.

Hey Fred, Yes we checked the settings in Outlook (although we had never changed any) and they should not be blocking images from these senders.

We have seen images from those senders before AND if we open Hotmail/Outlook.com in Chrome the images are fine thus it would not be a setting in the account. It is browser specific to Firefox.

Sounds like it's Firefox doing the blocking.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I have same issue. Don't use MS apps for office, but have problem with email in Outlook.com not loading images in many emails. Issue is, as with above commenter, one of mixed secure and insecure content. Firefox apparently blocks insecure content, and displays broken links in place of images. Chrome notes in page information that the content is mixed, thus vulnerable, but does not block: the images are displayed Opera also notes in page information that content is insecure, specifies images, and blocks without displaying broken links. You have to look for the info in both Opera and Chrome; Firefox displays it in the address bar through an icon. All the affected sites are https.

I also run into this outside of Outlook.com. Facebook Messenger had this problem (though seems to have fixed it. Many of the sites with mixed content seem to be smaller outfits. I am surmising that the issue is probably due to callouts for images (from what I remember of my old html days). Is there a resource you can suggest that the sites affected can turn to? Do we need to do that, or is there some way to identify the sites and notify them that they have a security issue? I

Firefox would normally load images via a HTTP link (mixed passive content) unless you are blocking this. If this content is loaded in a (i)frame then this may behave differently.

Hi willban1, with the default setting, Firefox will show images retrieved on an HTTP address in an HTTPS page and change the icon on the toolbar from a green lock to a gray lock with a yellow-orange warning triangle. More info: Mixed content blocking in Firefox.

Users can modify Firefox's settings to block HTTP images in HTTPS pages if they like, but that is not the normal behavior. In that case, when you click the green lock, there will be an option to unblock mixed content.

If you want to double-check whether your Firefox is customized that way, here's how:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste mix and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the security.mixed_content.block_display_content preference is bolded and "modified" or "user set" to true, double-click it to restore the default value of false

If that setting was already false, there must be some other explanation for the images not appearing. Can you start a new question and provide your Firefox setup information (use the "Share Data" button).

Note that if you use an extension that tries to force a secure connection then this might fail in some cases and you may have to add an exception.
