copy address book from Thunderbird to GMail
I just got my first smart phone Samsung (Android). I learned I could not use Thunderbird on that device. I have been using GMail as my client, but running Thunderbird on my PC to handle the duties on my computer, importing messages from GMail.
So, now with the Android phone, I decided to use GMail on the phone.
Two issues with which I need help.
I'd like to import my contacts/ address book from Thunderbird (which I will continue to use on my PC) to GMail on my phone. How do I do this? I cannot find the address book files on my PC.
I'd like to set up my Thunderbird to import copies of messages from GMail.com, but leave them there on GMail so that I can deal with them on my phone, as well. I've tried to accomplish this with settings in Thunderbird, but so far have not achieved the desired result. When the messages appear on my PC in Thunderbird, they seem to longer be on the GMail account.
Thanks for reading and for any suggestions.

go to your address book in Thunderbird.
Use File then new on the menu and add a cardbook address book. Insert your gmail email address and follow the authorization flow to add the gmail address book to Thunderbird. Now copy your contacts to the gmail address book. Once done you can delete the duplicates, but I do not recommend moving instead copy and manually delete the copies addresses once success is confirmed.
Now log into gmail and in the pop settings at the gmail web site change them so deletes sent by mail clients are ignored. Whilst you can achieve this through Thunderbird gmail is finicky and changes more than the ignore, this should see the mail still appearing in your phone app. You have to play it their way.
