Adobe Flash plugin has crashed, your solution create problem
Now a days often Adobe flash crush. I followed the solution exactly as described on your web and downgraded the flash version. After that windows program compatibility assistant started appearing with warning that Yahoo messenger need flash.ocx which is not supported by Windows vista. By following suggested solution by windows I re-installed Macromedia flash but the problem remain same. However, the Adobe flash player crush problem remain there but rarely.
I had been using Yahoo messenger and it was first time I saw such message though I just did changes in Adobe flash by following exact procedure described on Firefox website from uninstall to downgrade flash version.
Conclusion: After downgrading Adobe flash player the crush problem reduced to very minimum. The Windows compatibility assistant kept appearing therefore, once again I updated the flash player to the latest version and re-installed Yahoo messenger. Now only face Adobe flash player crushing problem.
Please share your thoughts or any advice will be appreciated.

I am adding screen shot of Yahoo messenger to my previous question. Though it is in Japanese but there is a little English too which will be helpful to those who could not read Japanese.

What advice did you follow ? can you provide a link.
Try using FlashPlayer with its protected mode disabled (Applies to Windows only after XP)
- see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Flash_Player_11.3_Protected_Mode_-_Windows
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
- and http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround
That involves finding and modifying one of the Adobe files and full instructions are in the linked articles
Hi, Thank you for the reply, I will check what you have said. Here is a link This is the link I have used
Thank you
Hi, Thank you for the reply. I will try as you said.
Hi,
I followed Disabling Protected Mode in Flash 11.3 guide lines but later I got this message flash failed refer screens shot.
At the moment I have roll back the settings in flash.
Thank you
Does it give that message on all sites you try with Flash content ? and what happens if you wait a little longer.
I suppose stopping responding may be an improvement on crashing.
Not entirely sure what you have done when saying
"At the moment I have roll back the settings in flash. "
Are you talking about the FlashPlayer protected mode or something else?
Hi, thank you for follow up.
Before changing flash file to mms.cfgBAK I was facing flash crash problem some time. Since I made change to mms.cfg the problem increased a lot and on most of the site it started giving flash failed message. I have also waited, Selecting to Continue and Selecting to Stop the Plugin but the problem remain there. Even in the safe mode problem remain there.
Therefore, I made changes in the flash folder as it was before changes.
Now problem occur rarely.
PS: Are you talking about the FlashPlayer protected mode or something else? ( I used Disabling Protected Mode in Flash)
Thank you
Hi,
When I used Firefox/Addons/Plugings Shockwave Deactivate on the website flash stream did not work. As soon I Activated on the website flash stream started working.
Now I only get a message Showckwave flash me be busy or it may have stopped responding.
I thought I should share my experience.
Thank you
Do you get that message on all video sites or only on a few of them ?
- Try opening Firefox and closing all Windows and tabs except one.Maybe try this page and the video in the centre of it
- https://blog.mozilla.org/sumo/2013/08/12/whats-up-with-sumo-aug-12/
(It is work related for this site, but at least we know it has only the one video and nothing else likely to interfere)
- Are you using flash with the protected mode on or off ?
- Try the oposite, so if it is off try it with protected mode enabled
- What difference does that make ?
Is protected mode disabled better? - What is the content of your active mms.cfg when you disable FlashPlayer's protected mode?
Please past the text content of the file into your next post.
Hi, Thank you for the details. Today in the afternoon I did something and since then did not face any problem.
What I did, (disabled protected mode) First in the Macromedia folder I added ProtectedMode=0 in the mms.cfg file.
Then when I was playing a video I right click on it click settings and drag the slider to extreme right to increase the more space.
Since then it is working fine but I must check at least one day. Thank you
Answers to your questions below:
"Do you get that message on all video sites or only on a few of them ?"
Not all sites MAYBE those using Macromedia flash. On youtube I do not face problem.
Are you using flash with the protected mode on or off ?
Since yesterday, I had been using with protected mode on. But today in Firefox/Add-ons/Plugin/Showckwave NEVER activate the video on websites did not work therefore, used ALWAYS activate.
Is protected mode disabled better?
(since this afternoon I guess yes)
What is the content of your active mms.cfg when you disable FlashPlayer's protected mode? Please past the text content of the file into your next post.
Content of the mms.cfg file as follows
AutoUpdateDisable=0
SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0 ProtectedMode=0
Thank you once again for taking interest in my problem. I very much appreciate.
Glad it is working again.
Thanks for posting back. As it seems that disabling FlashPlayer's troublesome protected mode seems to have solved your problem I will mark that suggestion as the solution to this thread.
Hi,
Thank you goes to you and those who help here and guide in right direction.
Jeez Louise! Do we have to be computer scientists to use Firefox now? Mozilla is really narrowing their market if they expect people to go through all this in order to use their product.
Hi p19581aaa, it's not computer science to open a file, add a new line, and save it. Because the mms.cfg file is in a secure location, you may have to drag it to your Documents folder to make the edit and drag it back. This is do-able; you can do it.
Note: the edit is for Windows Vista or higher. If you have Windows XP or Mac or Linux, never mind.
Also note this is modifying use of third party software. This mms.cfg is a settings file of Adobe Flash Player. It is not a Firefox designed interface,

Hi kingbode, can you click the ID on the about:crashes page to submit and/or view your data on the server? You then should be able to post new IDs starting with bp that we can view.
