I recently upgraded to Windows 11 and installed the newest Firefox 111.0. I'm familiar with about:config and all general settings in programs involved.

I used to have any link open in a new tab, but stay focused on the current one. DuckDuckGo search results opened new tabs but stayed on the search results page. I can no longer do that and can't figure out what changed or how to return it to this behavior.

The issue seems to affect many users. First, DDG has a setting New Window which you can select to open results in a new window or tab. There is also Settings > General > Tabs : deselect When you open ... switch to it immediately. Check these about:config settings. browser.search.openintab > true browser.tabs.loadInBackground > true (default) browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground > true browser.link.open_newwindow 1:current tab; 2:new window; 3:new tab JavaScript links: browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction 0:divert always; 1:divert never; 2:divert no features
