Is it just me or are others having problems with firefox locking up when it starts to my homepage?

When I click on the firefox icon on my desktop, it loads my homepage..or at least tries to. It goes non responsive for around 45 seconds before it loads the page. All other pages load fine after this. If I click a link that starts firefox, the same thing happens. Just been since the last update. I've checked with friends and they're all having the same problem.

What's up with this?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

It's not just the home page. As stated, it's anytime firefox starts. If I click a link that starts firefox, it goes not responding for about 45 to 50 seconds and then it runs fine. Any pages after that point are fine. It's always at startup. It's so irritating and has only been since last update
