After expiration of freeAVG, Windows security shows virus protection is off and doesn't change if I click 'update' Please help.
My AVG free Internet security 2013 has just expired and Windows security alerts informs that I have no virus protection. In searching for another, I note it says you shouldn't have more than one protection running as they will be in conflict and slow down the computer. I thought I had protection with Windows and Firefox. My broadband provider, TalkTalk, can also provide protection. How can I get it sorted asap with a free virus protection? I'm a novice and grandmother and worry about the online security. Thank you.

No Trusteer Raport is completely different and relates to authorising banking transactions.
Note also Trusteer Raport when outdated sometimes is implicated in Firefox crashes so if you do have crashes try first of all updating and then if necessary uninstalling Trusteer.

Firefox gives some protection against phishing sites, and is able to work with your exiting AV software in scanning for viruses etc.
Microsoft does not come with AV software by default, but MS does now offer that as a free download option
- try http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials
Thank you John. I decided to download Avira free security but it tells me I have Trusteer and AVG2013(but expired) Is Trusteer sufficient? Thanks
