The workflow can get a little tricky, but this absolutely can be done.
In this example, I am going to assume that you want to import bookmarks from Chrome for Android. You can follow the same basic steps for any other mobile browser. If you tell me what mobile browser you want to import from, I can give you even more specific steps.
- Sync the Android version of Chrome with the normal (desktop) version of Chrome running on your computer. When this step is done, the desktop version of Chrome will have the same bookmarks as the Android version of Chrome.
- Import bookmarks from the desktop version of Chrome into the desktop version of Firefox by following these steps. When this step is done, the desktop version of Firefox will have same bookmarks as the Android version of Chrome.
- Sync the desktop version of Firefox with the Android version of Firefox following these steps. When this step is done, the Android version of Firefox will have the same bookmarks as the Android version of Chrome.
I hope that makes sense. Please let me know if I can clear anything up for you.
edit: Keep in mind that this only works one way. If you later change your bookmarks in the Android version of Firefox, those changes will not be synced with the Android version of Chrome.

iI appreciate that effort, and but that is highly convoluted for something that should be as simple as importing an html file. I'm actually using boat browser. But with Miren, Dolphin, and countless others, and Chrome hardly enters the picture considering a majority of android users are still on gingerbread. I think less than 30% of android users are on ICS or JB which means Chrome isn't an option.
my mobile bookmarks are different than my desktop ones in FF and IE. I have over a decade of bookmarks in FF. I have about 50-70 on Boat. I'd have to export desktop FF, and delete all, I import my Boat ones and hope it takes, and then sync desktop to phone, and delete desktop ones and import my original export back.
isn't easier to just be able to import an html file instead of assume everyone is using stock and make that the only option? I can appreciate a workaround, but for something as basic as this I'd like to see a response of that making a lot of sense, and we'll work on implementing it. I see it as a major oversight at this stage of the game with the vast amount of browsers available and bookmarks not really playing nice back and forth. I believe Boat allows imports of html files for bookmarks. And there's no power of Mozilla behind it as well as desktop heritage to work from.
Not trying to sound like unappreciative. I I just think certain features shold be basic at this stage of the game, and that's a lot of effort when I don't even know if FF will be my daily driver. Not a fan of the indirect Window access. Prefer a multiple tab view that switches tabs with a single press as opposed to the two step process in FF Seems tedious.
Thank you for the option though.
It looks like Boat bookmarks can be synced with the Android stock browser. If that is the case, the workaround is greatly simplified.
- Sync Boat with the Android stock browser
- Use Firefox to import from the Android stock browser
I agree that it should be easier to import from other mobile browsers. I am not a Firefox developer, but I can see that there is not already a feature request for this. I bet that if you file one it will get some attention.
It's not a sync, it's an import only. But Boat has the ability to import/export bookmarks. It's so odd that this isn't standard in mobile browsers for as much as people are trying different apps on a continual basis, switch phones, have a tablet and so forth.
