What do I click to find a list of my bookmarks?

What do I click to view a list of my bookmarks? Clicking the yellow star saves my present page. I understand that. But there must be some way to view what I've bookmarked previously.

I've about had enough of these "improvements" to firefox.

If you have the orange Firefox button, the Bookmarks menu can be expanded from there. If you prefer the classic menu bar, tap the Alt key and choose View > Toolbars > Menu Bar.

You also have your choice of two bookmarks buttons for your toolbars. One drops down the menu, and the other opens the bookmarks sidebar. If either of those sounds useful, you can use View > Toolbars > Customize to move them where you want them.

Thanks for the reply. Following your suggestions, I use 4 mouse clicks to get to the bookmark "list" to choose what I want. Not ideal, of course.

You say two bookmark buttons, and describe what they do. If I'm not mistaken, one of them (the yellow one) bookmarks the page you are on when it is clicked. Isn't that the case?

Still wondering how to get a list of bookmarks without going through a series of clicks. If there is no way to do that, then we've gone a step backwards in the "improvements" department. I followed your steps to add a second bookmark. The result was my bookmark icon disappeared. I did it again (thinking it would come back) and no change. Now I only have the yellow star in the big window.

Sorry, the bookmarks icons I meant look like the attached screen shot.

Yes, that's the one I used. The tutorial I read said one of them - the yellow one - added a bookmark when pressed. It seems to do that when I try it. What you are saying is something different, so I am again confused and wondering what to believe.

Yes, that's the one I used.

I am not referring to the star. The star (which turns yellow when the current page has already been bookmarked) is for creating a new bookmark or editing the bookmark associated with the current page (if any).

Check out the other two icons that say "Bookmarks" -- I wrote next to them in red text. These give you quick access to your existing bookmarks, either by dropping down the menu or by displaying the sidebar.

When you turn on View > Toolbars > Customize, you can move one of those other two icons into a position where you'll have quick access to it.

You can see all the bookmarks in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)

  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks

If you would feel more comfortable using Firefox 4 with the old Toolbar setup, simply right-click on a blank section on the right-side of the Tab Bar and click on Menu Bar to select the Menu Bar to appear all the time.

Something strange is occurring. I start with my display NOT showing the bookmark icon. I then follow your instructions (View-Toolbars-customize). At this point the bookmark toolbar IS shown on my display, just to the right of the "house" icon. It is NOT shown in the "customize toolbar" display or box. OK, now I have what I want. I then close the customize toolbar - and my bookmark display disappears. I'm getting more annoyed with this software every day.

Another thing. I don't see where you find TWO bookmark icons. I only have one, since you don't count the yellow (sometimes yellow :-) star)

Bookmarks - Show all bookmarks DOESN'T bring up all the bookmarks. It brings up a menu to choose from. There's more choices to make before they come up. I'm looking for a way to click on something to show all bookmarks. Maybe there is no such solution.

I've already done that, but I still do not have a way to click on something and see my bookmarks. A series of clicks - yes. But a simple click to see them (as we once had) seems to be gone.

This is getting confusing because this forum doesn't links replies to specific messages.

(1) Classic Menu Bar

If you prefer the classic Bookmarks menu, you can restore the bar. I assume you have the orange Firefox button. Tap the Alt key or press F10, then use

View > Toolbars > Menu Bar

Does that work?

(2) Bookmarks menu button on the toolbar

This button may migrate itself automagically between the Navigation toolbar and the end of the Bookmarks toolbar. It's special that way. If you close the Bookmarks toolbar (View > Toolbars > uncheck Bookmarks Toolbar) then it should appear next to the Home icon where you see it when you turn on Customize.

Does that work?

You only see the Bookmarks Menu button on the Navigation Toolbar if the Bookmarks Toolbar is hidden.
If the Bookmarks Toolbar is on display then you usually see that button at the right end of the Bookmarks Toolbar.
You can drag the BT menu button from the Navigation Toolbar to the left of the Bookmarks Toolbar Items in Customize mode.
I place that button at the left end of the Tab bar next to the Firefox button that is also on the Tab bar on Linux.

The behavior of the Bookmarks Menu toolbar button and the New Tab toolbar button isn't very intuitive as the visibility depends on the position. You see them in one place and not in anther place.

The answer is - no that doesn't work.

I now have 41 messages in my inbox - all from FireFox.

Do you have the Bookmarks Toolbar visible?

Hell, yes. (Initially I answered "yes." but got this error message:

Your content is too short (4 characters). It must be at least 5 characters. :-)
