I keep getting a pop-up window telling me to 'choose your profile'. Then I lose my bookmarks. I've tried to asking this question & following instructions to recover my bookmarks. Is there anyone who will walk me through this? I'm not a techie & may cause myself more problems by trying to correct what's wrong. Please help me.

Sounds like you have not set a default profile.

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar. How many profiles are listed?

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

This has happened at least 6 times. Some how or another, it seems to straighten itself out after I fumble aroundL

Window pops up saying Firefox CHOOSE PROFILE. 3 boxes: Create, Rename & Delete Profile. 3 or 4 lines that say 'Default' with a series of a dozen numbers. Below those are boxes with options to 'work offline' or Use the selected profile without asking at startup. Below those boxes are boxes to 'Start Firefox' or Exit. No matter what I hit or do, I wind up losing my bookmarks & some psswrds are no longer recognized like FB, Google & my bank.
