Firefox doesn't create HTML backups for the bookmarks, but uses compressed .jsonlz4 in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can either copy places.sqlite from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop to the current profile folder with Firefox closed or restore a JSON backup from the bookmarkbackups folder on the desktop to restore bookmarks stored in this file.

Note that you need to remove existing places.sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal SQLite temp file when you replace places.sqlite.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
