When I enter subject line in forums, FF dropsdown choices like google?

Like Firefox "knows" subject lines I emailed in my online yahoomail, and then offers dropdown choices whenever I enter subject headers in forums.

For example, I might ask something on Gardenweb beginning with "A" such as, say: Apple growing

I then might see these choices dropping down, immediately upon entering "A" Attn: dear bro anti-cookie strategies Attn: Chad re: our recent finance discussion

This has been going on for ages, but never got around to asking: What's this all about? and what are these dropdowns called?

It reminds me of google dropdowns, but even more personal.

On a tangent (speak of way worse privacy intrusion) what's most nauseating, is yahoo making mandatory the entry of mobile numbers for every new email signup. It just came to my attention now, due to RL distractions. Why does everything always get complicatedly worse, instead of remaining simple & utilitarian? Not to mention extreme EMFs (i'm electrosensitive, so that's a sensitive issue for me)

You can use "History > Clear Recent History" to remove already saved form data.

You disable this feature in "Options > Privacy" to prevent Firefox from saving new data.

Some web sites do this to help out the user. Just keep typing until what you want shows up.

Do you mean to say that Gardenweb webmasters have access to know the subject lines of my Yahoo emails? Because that's exactly what displays in a dropdown, directly at right of subject entry-box in the GW forums.

And not just Gardenweb - it's subject-headers everywhere. I used to be able to type subject headers on forums WITHOUT this happening.

I'm confused - are you saying it's NOT Firefox? Though it's just as disquieting for FF browser to know my email subject lines.

Firefox has a feature to remember data you have entered into forms. If you would like to turn that off globally, you can do it in the Options dialog. Check out this article: Control whether Firefox automatically fills in forms.

If you want to selectively weed out past entries, you can use an extension such as: Form History Control.

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:

  1. click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list
  3. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

Minni,
When we talk about Firefox saving this we mean on your own computer.

Firefox is not putting this information out on the internet. It is in a database within the Firefox profile in a file called formhistory.sqlite. That is where Firefox is looking.
(Bookmarks and history are also stored and they are in a database places.sqlite )

I just thought that needed to be clarified in case you thought Firefox was somehow keeping the information out on the internet somewhere.
(Firefox may store sync info on a server, but that is secure and encrypted and another subject. Firefox Sync data is secure - Find out more )

Uh, now that I cleared recent forms history per jscher, will it discontinue those dropdowns? I guess time will tell.

Thanks.

Thanks! the Tools option will hopefully resolve it.

If you use separate Operating accounts for yourself and for others each has her own history and does not see the other accounts history. Firefox sets up a separate profile folder for settings and history for each account.

That also allows each user to customise Firefox the way they like it and have separate bookmarks and browsing history not just form autocomplete settings and lists. Additionally it is bad practice for security reasons to run Windows day-to-day from the main admin account.

Well, i've marked this as [hopefully] resolved, ...but In response to John (and unrelated to FF) - I wish I had time & health these days to browse thru what I used to be able to handle.

Lately, Just a short time on computer causes me severe migraines & eye pain. I probably require epaper mode for health. So if I had a guarantee that Pixel Qi (or the like) is free of chemical outgassing I might try that - due to its featuring epaper mode. Perhaps with Fit PC2, since anything low-watt is better for me. But what do any of them care about letting people know if they're chemical free - they're only interested in whether it doesn't guzzle electricity, or whether it's viewable in sunlite.

Thing is, I've tried "zillions" of proposed resolutions already in hope of resolving my sensitivity to frequencies. To no avail. No energy left.

P.S. It's only me on this computer, nobody else.

Use this extension to adjust the font size for the user interface.

You can look at the Default FullZoom Level or NoScript extension if the appearance of web pages need to be adjusted.

Actually it's not text size which is the problem, since I can always use the CONTROL-plus & minus for that.

Rather, it's "light" frequencies, and GHz frequencies, and maybe TDP or watts. Also, ever since Chinese imports, tons of chemical-saturated electronics, which I lost money on, because I needed to trash them (chemicals are not recognized as "returnably defective goods" in this lovely society. Hey, there's more pity for smoke-sensitive people than for perfume sensitive people.
