We use Thunderbird 68.5.0 in our office, and it builds summary files(.msf) for each email folders for receiving, 2-3 times a week. We put our data (including Thunderbird profiles) on NAS drive, so building summary files slows loading other files. I tried older virsion(52.9.1) and it doesn't have the same problem. How can I prevent rebuilding summary files with latest version?

given the summary files are the information used to populate the user interface, they are not "mail", but a sort of user interface cache, I would expect them to modified very frequently.

1. Make sure you antivirus software isn't scanning the Thunderbird data profile locations on the file share.

2. Make sure there isn't a time skew issue that would force the summary files to rebuild because of timestamp checks. I forget all the details, but I suspect you will find relevant information in Bug 905576 - TB3 repeatedly rebuilding summary files for many folders when profile(mail directory) is on network drive. (Fileshare server is SAMBA on Linux, Fileshare client is Windows)
