There used to be quite a few complaints from people who saw the ".NET Framework Assistant" extension automatically being installed in Firefox when then installed .Net Framework, with no option to uninstall the extension. Microsoft have now addressed this issue so that people could easily uninstall the add-on if they did not want it.

The extension does not do any harm, it adds some extra functionality to Firefox. The decision to uninstall it is down to you.
