Firefox Quantum 59.0.1 (64-bit).
Dear Whomever,
Is it just me, or does anyone else find Firefox Quantum to be distasteful?
For one thing, we used to have a choice in the matter regarding whether or not to “Upgrade,” but not anymore. Now it happens of its own volition, take it or leave it.
I also have “Ad-Block Plus” chosen, but as of the latest “Upgrade” I no longer seem to have control.
The other “latest thing” I discovered about the “new and improved” Firefox Quantum is that “new tabs” no longer have an “X” icon available for simple closing, as we are now obligated to “right-click” on a “Tab,” get a “drop-down menu” and select/choose “Close Tab.”
The other newly interesting aspect to Firefox Quantum is that there is no longer a “download” indicator, which is not a big deal to me as I found it to be somewhat annoying to constantly need to clear.
All Comments Are Welcome,
Gregory Falasz

Hi, could you please edit out your email address as this is a public forum and risk getting spammed.
Hi, Sorry you find it distasteful. Some do. Others are coming back again. Most people have no problems what so ever running Quantum. There are the issues that people are having as you are.
The upgrading is taking place for security and fixes as they are found. You can read each versions fix/security or enhancement from Help --About or here : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases/
Yes, seems there is a issue with a few people that add-ons are getting mucked about with.
Well the new and the improved is suppose to have a X to shut down the tabs. So something has become corrupted in your files.
For Download Indicator there should be but if there is not you can go to Customize and drag the down load indicator out and place it where ever you like and you can drag the others around also and put them where you like. https://www.howtogeek.com/333805/how-to-change-or-customize-firefoxs-new-tab-page/
Ok, so you are having a few issues that a 7min fix should be able get you back together again. Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :
