Name on e-mail is "Me" rather than my name. How do I change that?
I've gone through all of the settings, as well as Manage Identities. In all cases, my name shows up. However, when I send an e-mail out, it changes my name to "Me". This happens on all three of the e-mail accounts I have. More and more, I'm getting e-mails from folks and they are addressed to Me@ website name.
How do I get rid of "Me" and have it show my name? These are business accounts and it totally doesn't work!
Thanks.

it is 5 years since I wrote this http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2010/08/remove-you-from-your-mail.html
Thank you, Matt. I've made the 'display name' change recommended in your post. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. FYI --When I clicked the add-on, there were additional replies that said it no longer works on later versions.
just to be sure, check you sent items. locate a mail that says ME. select it and press Ctrl+U.
Look in the fields Reply-To: (It might not exist) and From: (It will exist.)
Your email address should appear much as this example from my mail. From: Matt <[email protected]>
If it does not, right click the account in the folder pane and select settings
Make sure the Your name field is completed as you would like.
Now on a related approach. Is this a gmail or hotmail account. These two providers use the information on their web site to over ride what Thunderbird sets. SO Thunderbird could be setting ElmLady and Goggle will substitute ME is that is what you told them your name is.
Matt, Interestingly enough, there are no longer an e-mails that say they are from "Me". Including the one the one that tipped me over I-gotta-fix-this edge. It now gives my name, rather than "Me."
It appears that the work I did following your first post worked retro-actively. I'm all for that!!
Thank you again. I'm going to keep an eye on it for the next few weeks and see how it goes.
