How do I prevent audio from playing when I go to a website?
Many times I am using my computer to record a radio station. If I use the computer while recording and go to a web site, oft times the web site plays an audio clip that gets recorded in the audio. How do I universally prevent web site audio clips from playing until I enable or allow it?

Try Flashblock From the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page. There’s a lot of good stuff here.

If you mute Mozilla Firefox in the Windows volume mixer, you won't hear any audio from web sites.
To only allow audio from certain sites, you can try the following. Open the Add-ons Manager (hold down Ctrl and Shift and press A), then the Plugins category. Set the Shockwave Flash plugin to Ask to Activate. This should prevent video and audio on most sites from playing automatically.
Video and audio from HTML5 players would still play automatically. You can try setting media.autoplay.enabled to false in about:config to prevent this.

Yep, looks like Flashblock worked. I wonder if that will also work for the idiotic animations in backgrounds of web sited. I frequent one that has dozens of small mechanical devices running, turning, and really being annoying. avoid the web site just for that.
It will work on some of them. Remember that you have the option to .to not block sites that you want to play, and that the blocked stuff will run after you activate it. Happy Computing.
