The new Firefox 4.0 (for Mac) is marked as an Intel app. Is there a (Dutch) version for Power Mac G5?

I am using a Power Mac G5. Dowloaded Firefox 4.0, but it does not work on my Mac. Info tells me Firefox 4.0 is an Intel app. So is there a version for Power Mac G5? If so where can I find it? I have restored Firefox 3.6.

Thank you for answers,

KubiPix

You already have the latest version of Firefox for the PPC Mac.

There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

This version is English language, but though I have not tested this but you may be able to install a language pack to change the UI to Dutch. Once the tenfourfox version has been installed, you can get the Dutch language pack for Firefox 4 from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/4.0/mac/xpi - just click on the nl.xpi file, that should prompt you to install it.

Once the language pack is installed, you need to change a hidden preference.

  1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
  2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
  3. Locate the preference general.useragent.locale, double-click on it and change it value to nl

If you are likely to want to switch between the languages, you can install the Locale Switcher add-on.

Thank you TonyE,

I have installed TenFourFox. It looks a lot like Firefox; all my Firefox preferences are still there.
