Why cant i read email content after a few days, despite them still being in inbox?
Doesn't seem to matter whether the messages are read or not, after 2 days the header remains in the inbox but the content is unavailable. Have tried exporting messages, marking as unread, trawled through Help in-program and online, and cant find answers.

Is the account using IMAP or POP?
Who is your email provider?
What process have you used to "export" messages? If you have truly saved them outside Thunderbird then it's hard to see why their contents could evaporate.
HI, and thanks for reply.
Account using POP3 on Win 10
ISP = freeola, though with my own domain name
Have tried forwarding messages to external ISP using <Forward> in drop down menu. These are received as blank messages with just the header, though haven't saved any to app external to T'bird, either by Drag&Drop or other means.
thanks for reply.

It sounds like your mail files are corrupted. First of all create a backup of your Thunderbird profile folder. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Backing_Up_and_Restoring
Then try to rebuild the index file of the troubled folder. Right-click the folder - Properties - Repair Folder
Note: depending on the corruption this may erase messages from the affected folder which cannot be recovered anymore. In that case you'd need to restore them from a recent backup done prior to the corruption.
Corruption is often caused by anti-virus software messing with Thunderbird mail files. It is therefore recommended to create an exception for the Thunderbird profile folder, so that the real-time scanner won't attempt to scan the profile with your mail.
For more information on the profile location see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird
