I want to restore an earlier Firefox session as my browser opened and had lost all the tabs.

Although I have restored most of these Youtube videos are now not playing and I get a black screen with the F (flash) symbol in the middle.

I want to restore to a time I knew it all worked but I don't know where the history file is on a MAC.

I've trued searching for the PLIST file but maybe it's no longer called this?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Thanks for your reply.

I followed the advice and as there were hundreds of cookies I deleted all of them.

Firefox is running more smoothly now but Youtube videos remain choppy.

Going back several versions of Firefox youtube used to be fine but remains an issue.

How can I resolve this?

You could try to test whether disabling the HTML5 media player has effect.

You can set media.apple.mp4.enabled to false on the about:config page to test this. You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

HI.

I tried that but it made no difference.

I have an Add-On installed called YouTube Flash Video Player. If I disable it I cannot get HD but if there is a difference in playback I.E. reduced stuttering it is marginal.

This is frustrating because FF used to be brilliant and I never considered using any other browser but I'm spending so much time trying to rectify issues.

Is an Add-On necessary for YouTube? If so, are others using a different Add-On?

Should I re-enable media.apple.mp4?

Thanks for your help.
