Lately, my Firefox is crashing almost every morning, usually around 11, sometime a bit earlier, sometimes a bit later. I'm almost never doing anything complex at the time. I get the windows error message and it responds by telling me it doesn't know what's happening and that Mozilla is shutting down. Anyone else havinbg this problem and found a easy fix?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

That is a problem with the Flash plugin.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
