I had left a huge number of tabs, intending to return to work on them after dinner. However, some other co-worker re-open my firefox and I lost my tabs
How do I restore them? The "restore previous session" button does not work because it only return me to what the co-worker left behind, not my own tabs.

If you've only restarted Firefox once, you should be able to replace the current session store file with the automated backup.
- Open your profile folder.
- Create backup copies of the sessionstore.bak and sessionstore.js files somewhere handy, like the desktop.
- Exit Firefox.
- Delete the sessionstore.bak and sessionstore.js files from the profile folder.
- Copy the the sessionstore.bak file from the desktop into the profile folder.
- Rename the the sessionstore.bak file from the profile folder to sessionstore.js
If you've restarted Firefox twice, then I believe the only option is to look through your history and reopen the pages in question.
- Open the History menu and choose Show All History or press Ctrl+Shift+H.
- Open the View menu and choose Sidebar then History or press Ctrl+H.
In the future, consider locking your workstation before leaving it unattended. Press Windows logo + L to do so.
On an unrelated note, you have an outdated version of Flash Player that contains security vulnerabilities. Visit the Plugin Check page to check your other plug-ins.
I only got the backup copy of sessionstore.js, no sessionstore.bak
that means my tabs are gone for good?
Try going to your history and finding what you had there.
Would have done that instinctively if the volume is not alot
Sorry, if you don't have a sessionstore.bak file, that session is "history".
Take a look at this extension - for the future.

If "Restore Previous Session" doesn't work then a sessionstore.bak file probably wouldn't help as well because that file is used to make it possible to restore a previous session at any time during the current session.
so without "sessionstore.bak ", there is zero chance of recovery?
You need a copy of the sessionstore.js file with the content of that session.
Maybe Recuva can help.
