Microsoft updates require Win IE to work. Try doing a manual update.

Windows generally checks for updates directly in the background, without your having to do anything. Since there are Windows updates nearly every month, it seems perhaps there is a problem with your settings if you haven't received any for nearly a year.

I recommend using the built-in feature or Internet Explorer for updates. Firefox may not support all features of Microsoft's site.

Try Microsoft for more info: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12373/windows-update-faq

By the way, I'm not sure how you ended up on the Firefox support forum when your browser identifies itself as Google Chrome. Do you want to try Firefox??
