running Win 7 x 64 on laptop. I refreshed Mozilla 41.0.1 because it was really laggy.

Unfortunately the lag seemed to get worse rather than better.

Also, I added back (only) the OneTab extension & was working on restoring what I had on there. Unfortunately, the import/export link loaded a page that constantly froze & also caused Mozilla to crash twice.

I got a unresponsive script message. Script: resource://gre/modules/commonj…-dot-com/onetab/data/import.js:5

Waiting did nothing. Debugging gave me a "This page has no sources." message.

Crash reports for last few days: bp-dd91e149-2e14-4898-b702-12bec2151013 10/12/15 23:20 bp-09f22ffc-ff8e-4c9d-8dd6-efc632151013 10/12/15 23:16 bp-5e040911-523d-491c-b5bc-c5a4a2151013 10/12/15 23:02 76f552c7-a8eb-4e9d-93be-683d7a365f4b 10/12/15 09:01 6625024f-84c6-4b1d-870a-741cae3418d0 10/12/15 09:00 2fb51c39-59a7-4b9e-8311-ce68077fef52 10/12/15 00:48 88320a61-623a-4c40-be52-3c42eae5b8c1 10/11/15 23:37 a50a9f3f-6cb3-43da-a36b-c201dbb41dc5 10/11/15 22:39 09e34776-e8d3-4090-8190-b660c6a2646f 10/11/15 22:22 25d45223-8672-46b0-980a-13ebc4bf3592 10/10/15 10:10 507a3b71-6133-4035-93ed-42158578ae45 10/10/15 09:14

I see a lot of plugins are still installed, even after refresh? That seems abnormal?

Thanks for any help.

Sorry to hear about the crashes. The three reports that linked automatically to the crash stats server are "out of memory" errors where Firefox recorded Windows memory usage over 90% in each case. Firefox cannot run well under those circumstances, period. Can you find a way to free up a little memory, or do you think that's not an accurate measurement?

Regarding plugins, Firefox will rediscover system-installed plugins in the Registry and in the program folder after a Refresh. To reduce the number that run, you can go ahead and set unimportant ones to Never Activate on the Add-ons page. Or if they are excess baggage at the system level, you may be able to remove them through the Windows control panel, Uninstall a Program.

Thanks for the prompt response!

Mozilla may have a memory leak -- one of the reasons I reset. The memory usage keeps climbing, even with minimal tabs open. This didn't used to be the case. But before I refreshed, this problem with OneTab didn't occur even though the leak brought mem usage over 90% at times.

When I first started seeing the issue, mem usage was max about 70%, if I remember correctly, if not considerably lower.

I restarted Mozilla, closed some things, memory was ~42%, 55% when Mozilla became more active. Same issue. After it again gave me a script error, memory was only 60%, although Firefox is relatively high.

I don't know why you would get a script error with OneTab's import function, I'm just not familiar with that extension. If you "continue" the script once or twice does it ever run to completion?

more options

No it doesn't run to completion, that's when the Mozilla crashes tend to come in. The page also doesn't fully load. (The page has import on top, export on bottom. Only the word import appears, not word export nor the field to add data for either the import or export.)

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

I thought I had found the solution when I realized the "refresh" had reset my DON'T use hardware resolution setting. Alas, wasn't so.

I remove my theme (harder than anticipated) then refreshed again because the themes were so difficult to eliminate that I thought they might have left residue.

I had 3 extension active - OneTab, Avast, and Evernote. Although the other 2 were installed after the issue, I tried uninstalling. Regardless, didn't help.

There were updates available although not obviously graphic-related. Didn't help either.

Problem still remains...

Does Firefox still crash in a profile folder without significant modifications and no installed and enabled extensions?

more options

Sorry, what do you mean by "in a profile folder"?

I have backed it down to only OneTab, even undid Avast & Evernote although the problem was there before I added them back in. OneTab is the thing crashing it, it didn't before I refreshed. Specifically, crashes when script freezes and I hit "continue". Script freezes every time I hit OneTab import/export page.

There may be issues with other sites but I haven't been on here much.

You can create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
