I'm afraid I can't give more information than what I state in my question: nothing, no content, comes through in Bloomberg except an outline of the entire Bloomberg site. I have to switch to Safari for anything Bloomberg.

The home page is incredibly information-dense: http://www.bloomberg.com/

Do you use any ad blocking add-ons? In some cases, a site will add an overlay in front of the content with an ad of some kind. Ad blocker usually can remove the media, but might leave the overlay in front of the page.

If you want to explore: right-click (or Ctrl+click) just inside the left edge of the blank area and choose Inspect Element (Q). Firefox's Inspector should open with a highlight bar on the element you clicked. If you right-click that highlighted bar you can delete that element (Delete Node). Any difference? You can work you way up the hierarchy and delete other elements to see whether the content is behind it.


More generally:

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Command+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?


To rule out extensions as a possible culprit, you could try the site in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled (Flash and other plugins still run)

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?
